School Profile & Values
The Patch Primary School, nestled in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges, is a learning community deeply connected to nature, wellbeing and one another. Our expansive grounds feature student-designed landscapes that have received multiple awards for excellence in design and sustainability, reflecting the strong value we place on student voice, agency and ownership of learning. These environments provide rich opportunities for nature-based learning, play and reflection, supporting student wellbeing and a strong sense of belonging. Students actively lead and participate in meaningful projects that enhance biodiversity, reduce resource use and foster a shared responsibility for caring for our environment.
Our vision is to provide innovative, inclusive learning experiences that encourage excellence through high expectations, while placing wellbeing at the centre of all we do. We are committed to strengthening resilience, nurturing deep and creative thinking, recognising and valuing diversity, and fostering compassion and respect for ourselves, others and the natural world. Through authentic opportunities for student voice, choice and leadership, we aim to develop confident, capable learners with the agency to make decisions, solve problems and actively contribute to a sustainable and interconnected global future.
At The Patch, students engage in a comprehensive and balanced education aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0, including Literacy, Numeracy, Physical Education, Humanities, Auslan, Art, Music and STEM. Weekly Philosophy lessons further support critical thinking, ethical understanding and respectful dialogue, empowering students to express their ideas and perspectives. Our wellbeing approach is strengthened through the Respectful Relationships curriculum, the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) and School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), which together provide a consistent, trauma-informed and strengths-based framework that supports student agency, emotional regulation, positive relationships, resilience and confidence. In partnership with our adjoining kindergarten, we also offer a Forest Classroom Program, supporting smooth transitions and a shared connection to learning through nature.
